Job Description Provide legal advisory services to the various business groups within the Company, assist in the negotiation and drafting of upstream commercial agreements and securing necessary approvals for upstream contracts.

Job Responsibility Ensuring compliance with the applicable legislations / regulation, agreements and legal issues affecting the Companys operations in Nigeria. Managing and supervising the activities of external counsel, prepare budgets and provide legal support services to the various units within the Company. Handling routine and complex commercial contracts, contract disputes and negotiation, and corporate matters. Examining/analyzing legal implications of the Companys transactions with third party contractors and other stakeholders, including but not limited to, JV partners, host communities and government departments. Liaising with appropriate regulatory authorities on behalf of the Company on legal matters. Assisting local controllers and unit tax managers with the interpretation and application of any new laws/regulations and recommending to management actions required to enforce compliance.
Job Requirements A first degree in Law from a reputable University. Possession of higher degree(s) in a related discipline will be an added advantage. Membership of the Nigerian Bar Association or its equivalent is essential. Minimum of eight (Cool years relevant work experience, at least four (4) of which should be in negotiating, drafting and advising on upstream commercial agreements. Excellent knowledge of the Oil and Gas laws and regulations. Proven ability to proactively identify local and global issues relevant to the industry and develop a working manual of these issues for use within the Company. Good understanding of the trends and outlook of the oil and gas industry in the global and local markets.
